MakeUPbyKIANI Profile "Beauty and the Beat Workshop ATL"

There are few times in life you get what you pay for, let alone obtain the feeling you would have paid more for what you received!  The emotions I am trying to evoke are what I felt after attending the Beauty and the Beat Workshop in Atlanta GA on August 21, 2013.  The class was held by @RennyVasquez of BET and Essence Magazine fame and Miss Tatiana Ward better known as @BeatFaceHoney the YouTube sensation turned Celebrity Makeup Artist of @Brandy and @Nicki Minaj.  Yeah, serious players in the makeup industry yet on a personal level, seemingly on a mission to share their wealth of knowledge.  Renny and Tatiana have masterfully come together to give us all aspiring and professional makeup artist some amazing tools of the trade to better ourselves.  This “letter” so to speak is not to give away the tips I received yet to help those of you decide if you should or should not attend the class coming to a town near you.  I has an amazing opportunity to work alone side of Renny Vasquez in February 2013 at the @Bronner Brother Spring Show with @Mizani.  I was excited to have received such an amazing opportunity with Mizani but I quickly learned Renny was the real deal.  He has such an amazing gift of sharing knowledge and explaining.  I wanted to buy everything he suggested, market myself in a more efficient way and live my passion!  By the end of the weekend I felt a fire was reignited in my soul for my on again off again passion for the art of makeup and I had made a friend for life.
I had not had the pleasure of meeting Tatiana Ward in person but I have been a fan of hers on YouTube.  Let me tell you have not seen a cut crease until you can sit and watch this girl in action.  Absolutely, Positively AAAAA MMAA ZZING!!!  I felt tears come to my eyes once she was complete with her model.  I said to myself “I am never giving up on my dream of flawless application on myself or my clients.  I owe it to my craft to be the best I can and it’s okay to be me!  Those that know me might say I am a perfectionist when it comes to makeup application and very passionate about my craft.  I agree but realize there is always room for growth and improvement.  By investing in my future in this industry, this class also taught me to respect my craft, myself, and the end result will end flawlessly!  This letter is to those of you considering or contemplating attending the @BeautyandtheBeat class on tour now.  I say book a seat, the experience alone is worth the money!  The tips you will receive (even if only giving positive reinforcement) will make you a better artist.  Getting tips from not one but two people with proven results in the makeup industry is an opportunity anyone trying to better their makeup application skills would be misguided to pass up.  I would like to thank @Renny and @Tatiana for being amazing artist, passing on the knowledge and giving me a sense of justification for the artist I am and continue to strive to be.  Be blessed and continued success to the both of you.

MakeUPbyKIANI Product Review: MAC 159 Duo Fiber Brush

OPEN ME!
Hey Guys! MAC 159 Duo Fiber Brush in my opinion is an amazing tool.  I was in the market to purchase a brush that would allow ease of application for my under eye area.  The flat paddle head of this brush is precise enough to reach under my lashes yet fluid enough to cover the full surface of the highlighting area.  I love everything about the control of this brush and the polish it leaves on the finish.  Instead of powdering to touch up during the day I use this to touch up (even in my T Zone). As with all my MAC brushes it does shed some in the beginning.  I keep it clean but try to avoid pulling the bristles but pat the water out on a towel.  The price was $35.00 USD and can be purchased at your nearest MAC counter or www.mac.com.  Thanks for watching!  XOXO Kiani

MakeUPbyKIANI Most Requested Silver & Gold Natural Eye

Hey Guys.  This look was inspired by a request from a subscriber asking for a more natural look.  I chose to use my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and create something soft yet impactful.  On the day I recorded this tutorial I was headed to be the MUA for a wedding.  This look stole the show and I recreated it on all the bridesmaids as well.  So although the look was intended to be natural it was sophisticated enough for a bridal party in ball gowns.  I did add a darker lip for impact and balance to my face and lashes.  Changing your lips and removing the lash step will totally soften the look even further.  I hope you enjoy watching.  XOXO, Kiani

MakeUPbyKIANI Real Talk "Where's the Ben Nye Powder?"

Hey Guys! Ben Nye Powder is an amazing setting powder that leaves an amazing finish.  The hype around this powder would leave one to believe it is one color fits all.  I was curious enough about this power I order two 3.0 oz bottles at one time, all for it to come in and I realized I needed more shades.  I couldn't bring myself to order the other shades until I had a chance to demo.  Luckily situations arose and I searched for the Ben Nye products on line again but specifically in store,  I found my Ben Nye Powder in a costume store, specifically Morris Costume Superstore.  I was so freaking excited I no longer have to order it!  They carry a full array of Ben Nye products including: the powders, shadows/blushes, and liners.  I was literally in this store for over an hour testing.  I wanted to purchase everything Ben Nye but I had to save something for my next visit.  I hope this information was informative.  Thanks for watching.  XOXO Kiani

MakeUPbyKIANI BlackOut Smokey Eye

Hey Guys!  This look was inspired by the rich, sultry eye my buddy Renny Vasquez is known for, I call it "BlackOut"!  This smokey eye is created with different layers of black being blended in different stages.  The tool used are very important for intensity and polish.  It is amazing how looking at a photo can inspire me to try to create something so different from my usual.  The thing about makeup is you can change it at any time.  The products being produced today are amazing and all you have to do is try.  I love a smokey eye but this look I look forward to recreating over and over again.  I hope you are inspired to try something new and practice until you can enjoy the look.  Lastly don't forget to blend, blend, blend!  XOXO Kiani

MakeUPbyKIANI INSPIRED BY: The Sand and Water of Aruba

Hey Guys.  This look was inspired by Sand and Waters of Aruba.  The beautiful white beaches that lead you to the waters so perfectly blue as you look out as far as the eye can see.  Until you step into the water and realize the blue is turquoise and transparent.  I wanted to create something whimsical and fun, yet trendy and eye catching.  The mix of colors, glitter, upper and lower lashes are unmistakably eye catching.  To complete this look I used a palette highlighted in my July favorites.  The link will be below.  I hope you enjoy the free handed creativity and thanks for watching!  XOXO Kiani
